How do I find out if I qualify for free enrollment and certificate fees?
Enrollment and certificate processing fees for some courses are waived if you meet one of the following criteria:
I am adopting a foster child in a state other than Illinois. Am I eligible for free courses or certificates?
We do offer free enrollment for some courses for all our visitors. For all our other courses, there are fees. back to top
What is the difference between an individual and joint registration?
If you are required to complete courses independent of your spouse/partner, you should register on the website as an individual. Certificates will be issued in one name only. If your adoption agency allows you and your spouse/partner to complete courses together then you can register jointly. One certificate will be issued containing both names. back to top
I forgot my username and password.
If you forgot your username and password, contact info@AdoptionLearningPartners.org and we will assist you in retrieving this information.
Note: DO NOT CREATE A NEW REGISTRATION - even if you cannot remember your username and password. It will create multiple accounts, and your account page will not be accurate. back to top
Do I need to be affiliated with an agency to take an ALP course?
No, all you need to do is register. However, if your agency is an ALP Participating Agency, they will provide you with a Participating Agency Code to be entered at registration. If you do not know the code, you can register anyway and provide us with that code later. back to top
Do I need the Participating Agency code in order to register?
No, but if you find out later that your agency is a Participating Agency, send us an email at info@AdoptionLearningPartners.org to tell us your Participating Agency Code and we will update your record. back to top

If you are in the process of preparing to adopt, you should check with your agency to find out which specific courses to sign up for.

How do I find courses that are right for me?
There are a number of ways to find the courses we offer that are right for you. If you are looking for courses to help you prepare to adopt, just roll your mouse over the "adopting" tab on the upper right hand side of the site. Then, click on the description that most closely matches your interest ("international" "domestic" or "foster care") – if you have more than one area of interest, try one, then try the next. Each will take you to a page with a list of courses that are most likely to be of interest to you at this point in your parenting journey.
If you are already parenting, or an adoption professional, just click on the tab (in the upper right hand corner of the screen) that best describes your interest (parenting, professional) and you will be taken to a screen that lists courses most likely to be of interest to you. Back to top

My agency told me to take the Hague Course. Which one is it?
Hague requirements call for training on a variety of topics. We do not offer a single "Hague" course but instead have many courses that you can use to help meet the training requirements of Hague. You should check with your agency to find out which specific courses to sign up for. Many people looking to fulfill these requirements take:
For people adopting from China we also offer three courses about that country.
Can I visit the site without registering or logging in?

You can even download articles and white papers without logging in (but you will need to supply your name and email address). However, if you want to access your account, your courses, or purchase a course, you will need to log in at that time. Back to top
